Adult Education New Teacher Induction Pilot: An Administrator Perspective

In 2014–2015 the American Institutes for Research launched a field test program for an Adult Education New Teacher Induction Program. Similar to Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment programs provided to K-12 teachers, this program provided a rigorous and relevant induction process for new Adult Education teachers. This field test, in which Huntington Beach Adult School participated, provided an extraordinary opportunity for a school to accelerate the effectiveness of their beginning teachers and to leverage the experience of their master teachers as mentors. The field test activities focused on improving the supports for and the effectiveness of their new and experienced teachers in providing high-quality, evidence-based instruction.
