Integrated and Contextualized Workforce Skills in the ESL Classroom, Session II. Contextualized Instructional Strategies (Part 1, Online)

Workshop Description : How can you integrate and contextualize your instruction? Find out what contextualized instruction is and how it benefits your learners to succeed in the workforce. This session offers examples of contextualizing ESL instruction easily by using workplace activities and forms.Note: you must have completed Session I before attending Session II. Session I is offered online, in two parts, on May 14 and 16, 2024.This is the first of a two-part online workshop in real time. Part 2 of Session II takes place on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 4:00 - 5:30 pm. Participants must attend both parts; certificates of attendance will be provided to participants who attend both parts. However, you must only register once (for Part 1). 2024 Adult Education Leadership Institute Session 3, Day 2

Workshop Description :Join the more than 600 California adult education administrators who have participated in this program since its inception in 1985. The Institute covers topics and skills that new and aspiring adult education administrators need to perform their jobs effectively including Collaborations and Partnerships, Career Pathways, Data Analysis and Data-Based Decision Making, Fiscal and Personnel Management, Public Relations and Program Marketing, Alternative Funding, Instructional Leadership, and The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Title II: Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (WIOA Title II: AEFLA).Goals :The California Adult Literacy Professional Development Project (CALPRO) in conjunction with the California Department of Education (CDE) is seeking nominations and applications for the 2024 California Adult Education Leadership Institute (the Institute). We are seeking aspiring and new administrators (defined as three or fewer years) for the Institute. This is an opportunity for your organization to nominate an aspiring or new administrator from your adult education program to attend. For the 2024 year we will accept up to 24 nominations for participation in the Institute. Priority registration will be given to nominees with the most recent appointment date to their administrative position.Registration Information :The Institute is open to all California funded adult education programs. Effective Lesson Planning

Workshop Description :Plan and deliver effective lessons! This course takes participants step by step through the process of lesson design and provides an opportunity to create a lesson plan using the OTAN Online Lesson Plan Builder. Participants will learn up-to-date strategies for planning lessons using a combination of the WIPPEA stages and “backward design.” Using the information and skills taught in this course, participants will find that lesson planning becomes a quick, easy process. This course takes place entirely online and runs for four consecutive weeks. Weekly participation is required, though participants may, during a given week, log in whenever they wish. A kick-off Webinar will take place in the first week and the date and time will be announced and posted. Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate of participation (14 hours); they are also eligible to apply to CSUS for 1.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), if they wish.Goals :The goal of this CALPRO course is to provide teachers with a model for designing effective lesson plans.Registration Information :There is no registration fee to participate; CALPRO professional development opportunities are available to all California Adult Education Program (CAEP) agencies and employees.Contact Information :Please contact calpro@air.org with any questions.
